Pilots

I recently decided that I don't watch enough television already (HAH!) so watched a few pilots of shows I'd never seen before.

White Collar

As well as watching the pilot, I watched all 16? episodes of this. Sure, it doesn't have a particularly high standard of writing but it was kinda funny and cute. It doesn't hurt that Caffrey, the lead actor, is kinda hunky :) With a cliffhanger ending, this is one I will continue watching.

Lie to Me

I got the idea of this show- a man who had heightened abilities doing what only he is capable of doing in order to catch bad guys/solve a puzzle. Thinking how much I'd enjoyed the forumla when used in 'House' and 'The Mentalist' I assumed this would be amazing. However, I wasn't drawn in. I don't really know why- perhaps I was expecting the charisma of Patrick Jane or the humour and sarcasm of House. Instead I felt like I got neither from the lead. Who knows, maybe I'll give it a second try.

Fringe

I can definatly see myself being drawn into 'Fringe.' Initially I thought it was perhaps a little too serious but, having been assured it is worth watching, I persisted. And I was nicely suprised. Moving on from the pilot, I began to enjoy the relationships within the show, between Peter and Walter and between Peter and Olivia. I also saw a hint of comedy, something I hope will increase to improve the show even more. I have been told that past episode 10 that it gets much better, so I will persist.

The Deep End

A little less serious that the rest, its kind of a far fetched comedy about new lawyers. I don't know. I did move on past the pilot to see where it was going but didn't feel much faith in it's direction. A bit of a let down.

Melrose Place

After having watched 2 episodes, I feel like this show is for me. It has the sex and deciet of 'Gossip Girl' but with a little less money. Kind of similar to '90210' it looks set to have storylines a little less trvial. Don't get me wrong, I don't it will be about political corruption or anything. But I have '24' or 'Law and Order: SVU' for that :)

.......................................................................................

To sum up, I will continue to follow 'White Collar' and 'Fringe' and the rest are still up in the air

P.S. Potentiol 'Criminal Minds' spin-off with Forest Whitaker. VERY exciting!

  1. I caught up with most of Fringe over the last few weeks, it definately gets better however I always find myself not watching the ends of episodes because I couldn't care less about them catching the person and Olivia bores me.
